Planting native trees is one of the most powerful actions we can take to combat climate change and protect our beautiful landscapes, waterways and forests. This is why we have chosen to partner with Trees That Count which are on a mission to help New Zealanders plant 200 million native trees by 2026. Since they started up in 2016, Trees That Count has been getting up to some pretty epic stuff to grow a better environment for Aotearoa.

  • 309,340 trees funded and gifted through their online marketplace.

  • 231 planting projects supported with free trees.

  • 5,911 funders and planters in their community.

  • 30,869,532 trees counted by NZ planters.

As well as storing carbon dioxide long-term, planting natives is about protecting our unique New Zealand biodiversity which is under serious threat. We believe it’s up to all of us as kaitiaki of this land, to take action now to protect our precious indigenous taonga for future generations. Our native trees and forests are intrinsic to our sense of wellbeing and connectedness to the land.

Every single tree counts, so whether you’re planting one native tree in your backyard, hundreds in your community or thousands on a farm we want to know! By counting the native trees which are planted each year we can monitor and measure the positive impact of the work we are all doing to improve the environment.

Trees That Count want to make it easy for Kiwis to make a difference and plant millions more native trees. They do this through their community marketplace which matches funded and gifted trees with worthwhile planting groups around the country.

If you’d like to donate, gift a tree or get involved check out their website.
