With the election coming in hot and voting starting on the 3rd of October until the 17th of October, we aim to make sure that you’re making an informed decision about who you are voting for. Below are resources to help you investigate which party would be the best fit for your beliefs. Your voice has power; make sure to use it wisely.

First up, we have the complete guide to the 2020 election by The Spinoff; they take us through policy and explain which parties have policies on various issues. You can explore candidates, policies, parties, and referendums.

Secondly, we have a little political quiz for you, asking you questions around drug reform, housing, immigration, healthcare, transportation and lots more takes a couple of minutes, and you end up with more of an idea where you stand politically -- if you don’t already know.

Thirdly, TVNZ has created a vote compass a tool developed by political scientists that calculate how your political views compare with party platforms. Super handy tool.

In addition, we have the electoral commission giving you all the verified information you need about voting, referendums, and where you are able to vote in your local area. This is also where you will be able to enrol to vote if you haven’t done so already!

We will also have the opportunity to vote on two referenda this General Election. The End of Life Choice referendum and the Cannabis Legislation and Control Referendum. To ‘know before you vote’ head on over to a perfect, impartial resource at Referendums 2020.

Most importantly, get out there, get educated, and have your voice be heard. We know how important it is to vote for a party/referendum in a way that aligns with your values. The fundamental responsibility we have in a democracy is to vote; the way you want your future, and that of others to go depends on it.
