Although the lockdown status has changed recently to level 3 in Auckland and level 2 throughout the rest of the country, one aspect of the COVID-19 response has remained the same - mandatory isolation for returning Kiwis. Supported by the government, these stays have been in hotels up and down New Zealand and interaction with the outside world is restricted.
So, I’m sure you’ve all been wondering what a couple of weeks in managed isolation is like – especially how the food stacks up. Thankfully, a recent returnee from Australia, Henry Newberry shared with us his breakfast, lunch, and dinner over his fortnight stay.
Day one: Breakfast is baked beans, carrots, cucumber, tomato, bread roll, raw slice, fruit and juice
Day one: Lunch was a sandwich with spinach, tomato and chutney very plain
Day one: Dinner was a vegetable curry and salad.
Day two: Breakfast consisted of hashbrowns, tomato and beans
Day two: Lunch a salad with falafel
Day two: Dinner was quinoa and sweet potato w a side salad
Day three breakfast: Not getting fed much - just granola and pineapple
Day three lunch: Another vegetable curry. This one is gooood though
Day three dinner: Just another curry
The remaining images: honourable mentions. There began to be food begun to repeat itself after day 4. “The food since yesterday morning has just been repeating other stuff I’ve had think I’m just having the same stuff again how fun.”
